The video “Facial Expression” explores the relationship between self-recognition, heredity, and beauty standards.
I view the face as a semblance/illusion of the human body. I consider the process of modifying my face as a way to objectify myself and analyze myself from a third perspective.
Watching the odd presentation of myself in the video alienates me from me. It asks:
Who am I? What is reality? What is fantasy?
